Increasing demand for automatic barrier and gate systems

Automatic barriers help with controlled access, especially when combined with different kinds of access control systems, e.g. keypads, contactless smart cards, hands-free access systems, intercom, etc to make access control easier and more efficient. Downing St Gates & Barriers 30th Birthday

Intelligent turnstiles could be the new default

The use of turnstiles with software for streamlining secure member or employee access to premises should be the default given the better economies of scale and enhanced security and improved safety that this combination can provide.

Security turnstiles integrated with membership/employee management systems prevent the risk of unauthorised entry into the premises especially during peak times, when reception teams can sometimes be overwhelmed by the number of people trying to access the premises.

When these intelligent turnstiles are present, members/employees can bypass the reception desk, present their credentials to the turnstile panel and then proceed through. If there are multiple turnstiles, the amount of traffic throughput is more efficient compared to using reception staff to register members at the desk, leaving them free to better concentrate on visitor access and other reception duties.

Three-arm tripod style turnstiles are designed to allow only one authorised person at a time to enter before locking and waiting for the next authorisation. The more aesthetically pleasing swinging or sliding glass turnstiles make a great choice also as they are able to sense and set off an alarm when two people rush through on a single authorisation.
